The Sycamore class had a buzzworthy visit from a local beekeeper who brought along his bees and honey combs. We were thrilled to get up close and personal with the busy insects, and were even able to spot the queen bee amidst the swarm. The beekeeper taught us about the different jobs within a beehive, including the worker bees who gather nectar and pollen, the drone bees who help protect the hive, and of course, the queen bee who lays eggs. We also learnt about what beekeepers do every day, including how they care for the bees and how they deal with swarms. It was an interesting experience that left us all buzzing with excitement and a newfound appreciation for these incredible insects!
