Descriptive writing - Life on the Roman frontier

Class 4 brought some excellent setting descriptions by Neil Gaiman and Susan Cooper to life through music. They used musical instruments to accentuate certain moods and feelings in the writing as well as considering sound effects to add atmosphere.

They then used the natural environment of the trees, autumnal leaves, grass, moss and wildlife of the area around the cricket pitch to inspire our own descriptive phrases. These will help in the construction of setting descriptions of Roman Britain written by soldiers posted on the frontier at Vindolanda.
