Hi all,

This is such a strange and challenging time but hopefully you are all keeping safe and well.

Day one is almost over and I'm sure the beautiful spring sunshine has helped to keep spirits up.  I know many of you will have started the home learning today but if you are feeling unsure of what to do, please refer to the home learning letter and work pack sent out on Thursday 12th March.  Please work through the suggestions at your own pace, there is plenty in the pack to keep children learning for the next few weeks, however, I will also be adding mini-tasks to the website so please watch this space...

Please see below for some top-tips for home learning that you may find helpful:

1. Create a timetable that fits around the time you have available but don't put yourself under too much pressure - we can only do our best and these really are testing circumstances! I realise that individual situations will vary but my suggestion would be for children to complete a literacy based task (phonics or writing) and a maths task in the morning and then a 'project' or 'topic' based task (gardening, bug-hunting, art and craft activity etc.) in the afternoon.

2. Plan for some physical activity everyday.  This will be much easier if the weather stays as spring-like as it has been today (fingers crossed) as children can play throwing and catching games, skipping, create obstable courses or partake in circuit training activities.  Should the weather change, there is plenty to be done inside.  You could try one of the brilliant online workouts or hold your own mini-disco.

3.  Quiet time is just as important (for your child and for you!).  Mindfulness colouring or online yoga programmes are a lovely way to slow down the pace.  Try to plan these into your day too.

4. Make your own reward system.  You would be amazed what the children will do in the hope of earning a Mrs Ellis shiny sticker!  You could have a 'lucky dip' of mini treats (pencils, rubbers etc.) for good behaviour. There are many suggestions online for behaviour reward systems.

Is there a neighbour or family member having to self-isolate that would appreciate a picture or letter from your child?

Take care everyone,

Mrs Roberts
