Children exploring the Victorian way of life.

The children came to school dressed in traditional Victorian dress ready for a Victorian school day. The children learnt that school was a place which was had a religious focus – they recited the Lord’s prayer, read the bible and also recited the school prayer.

They learnt about the Victorian school punishments, as well as using chalk to carry out arithmetic. The children spent time practising ‘copybook style’ using a pen. They all agreed that Victorian school life was tough.

After break the children took part in a factory setting – creating snowflakes. Once group were artisan workers, whereas the other two groups were factories working to the standards of the industrial revolution. Everyone thought that there was much more pressure and that it was hard to maintain the speed of the factory work.
