Children reading for pleasure

We have had a really exciting week in Class 3. We celebrated World Book Day this week and got to talk about our favourite books in class as well as write some amazing poems. We also were lucky enough to have been visited by the Young Shakespeare Company who performed The Tempest for us!

On World Book Day we all got to do one of our favourite things to do in Class 3 which is talk about books! We all shared our favourite book with the rest of the class and why we recommended it and we are creating a display of our favourite books for our class reading corner.
We also focused on Joseph Coelho as our World Book Day masterclass in poetry. We looked at different poems for each month and season and wrote our own poem for our favourite months. We also had the opportunity to perform a poem - whether it was the one we had written or even one of our old favourites!

At the end of the day we all chose which teacher and end of day story we would like to listen to including one from Sporting Influence's very own Mr Colley. His favourite story is Oliver Jeffers Lost and Found!
We have had an amazing experience watching The Tempest performed by The Young Shakespeare Company as well this week and loved how much we could get involved in the action. We cannot wait to explore more of William Shakespeare and have a go at some of our own writing inspired by the play.

We have had a fabulous week and cannot thank all the adults who helped organise all the events this week enough!
