Mr Atkinson has kindly visited Sycamore to teach us all about first aid. In groups we looked inside first aid bags and discussed what items are found in them. How to dial 999 on a mobile phone that is locked in case of an emergency was also shown. We learnt about 'AVPU' and what to do if somebody had a head injury, which was demonstrated to us. We also learnt how to assess the situation and a casualty using 'DR ABC'. Children really enjoyed the session, learnt lots and had the opportunity to use fake manikins to put what was learnt into practise.
