Pattern Making

We have been learning about different types of pattern making inspired by pictures from Faith Ringold and Henri Matisse. We saw triangles, animal print, symmetry, and repetition. The children took part in a carousel of activities:

Using string and tubes to roll a repeating pattern

Using triangles to create symmetry

Using ink and foam to create a zebra print repeating pattern

Using scissors and card to cut out patterns like Matisse's The Sheaf picture

We also looked at patterns in nature.
